Control chart techniques have been used in industries to monitor a process in quality improvement. In many manufacturing industries Shewhart X chart and Tukey’s charts are used to monitor single observation data. The uses of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model have recently been recommended as Statistical Quality control (SQC) tool. In this paper, neural network scheme is developed to for monitoring process mean. The performance of X chart, Tukey’s chart and ANN model is evaluated by Average Run Length (ARL) using the simulation under normal and non-normal distributions. The ARL comparison between traditional X chart, Tukey’s chart and ANN model shows that ANN is effective.
